About the Convergence
The Wisconsin Permaculture Convergence is a grassroots gathering that brings permaculture education, networking, community building, and skill sharing to enthusiasts, practitioners, and newcomers alike. First held in 2014 at founder Drew Carlson's homestead in Rio, the Convergence has traveled the state ever since — from the Northwoods to the Driftless — to celebrate Wisconsin's ecological diversity. We believe that gathering, teaching, sharing, and networking build a resilient community working toward a better Wisconsin, region, and world.
Introducing the 9th Convergence, 2026
Welcome to the 9th Annual Wisconsin Permaculture Convergence, taking place August 21–23, 2026, at Earth Vibe in Viroqua, Wisconsin. This year's Convergence brings us into the Driftless region, with its rolling ridges and coulees, for a weekend of hands-on workshops, keynote talks, live music, and the community-favorite "Take Five" sharing circle. Onsite tent camping is offered, and registration includes meals. Whether you're a seasoned permaculturist or brand new to the practice, come learn, connect, and help build a more resilient Wisconsin — in your own backyard and beyond. Why Viroqua? Exploring Wisconsin's Diversity
The Wisconsin Permaculture Convergence travels around our state to include different communities and witness the broad diversity of geography, biology, and ecology. We've spent time near Lake Michigan, on the karst bluffs of the west, in the Northwoods, and around the Madison microclimate. This year we head to the Driftless region — the unglaciated hill country of southwest Wisconsin — to gather at Earth Vibe in Viroqua, a community long rooted in organic agriculture and sustainable living.
