Attention Attendees!!!
The Wisconsin Permaculture Convergence starts tomorrow night! Whether this is your first Convergence or your ninth, here's everything you need to know to arrive prepared and settle in easily.
When & Where
August 21–23, 2026 at Earth Vibe, E8728 County Rd Y, Viroqua, WI 54665, in the beautiful Driftless region.
Earth Vibe is a homestead residence, and we ask everyone to treat it with the same care and respect you'd give a friend's home. A couple of important notes: this is an alcohol-free site, so please save those beverages for a different outing, and while service animals are welcome, we ask that you leave other pets at home.
Getting There & Checking In
When you arrive, head first to the welcome/Registration tent. That's where you'll check in and sign your liability waiver (one per attendee) and get directions. Registration is specifically staffed during these windows:
Friday, 3:00–5:00 PM
Saturday, 7:30–8:30 AM
If you arrive outside of these times and no one is at the check in please review materials at the tent, check yourself in and ask someone for help if you need it.
Once you're checked in, the map and onsite signage will guide you to camping and parking. If you're arriving with a truck bed camper or a small teardrop-style camper, there's a designated area for you — just follow the signs, and ask a volunteer if you need pointers.
We put together a site map to help you visualize the layout before you even arrive — you can find it in our Survival Guide.
No cell service or wifi: Earth Vibe sits down in a valley, so plan on being unreachable by phone for the weekend. Let the people back home know ahead of time, and consider printing anything you might need (directions, tickets, schedule) before you head out.
Food & Water
Convergence meals are provided and staffed by volunteers, and we love it that way. Please bring:
Your own plate, bowl, cup, and utensils for every meal (there's a dish-washing station onsite, but no disposable dishware provided)
A dish to share for the Friday night potluck dinner
Extra mix-ins or toppings if you have them, for Saturday and Sunday breakfast (something oatmeal-adjacent) and other food items you’d like to share with others.
Your own water bottle or vessel — we'll have water refill stations around the site
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included with your registration. If you're able to bring extra garden produce to share for the salads and pizzas, it's always welcome — and if you have dietary needs, reach out ahead of time so we can do our best to accommodate you.
Camping
Camping is offered onsite at no cost. Follow the map and signage to the loading/unloading area, where you'll drop gear before parking. Portable restrooms and portable water will be available, but come prepared for a low-tech camping experience — there are no showers onsite.
If tent camping isn't for you, Viroqua has campgrounds, bed & breakfasts, and hotels nearby.
What to Bring
Weather-appropriate clothing for both sun and rain — most of the Convergence happens outdoors
A comfortable portable chair or seat for sessions and community gatherings
Your own dishware and water vessel (see above)
A printed schedule/map if you'd like your own copy, since we won't have reliable cell service to pull one up
Volunteering
We're a volunteer-run, low-cost, and aim to be a zero-waste event, and it shows in the best way — this thing runs because people pitch in. There will be a volunteer check-in sheet at registration, so if you have an hour or two to help with food prep, cleanup, or anything else that needs doing, sign up when you check in.
Kids & Family
We'll have a children's activity tent with a few activities for little ones. It's not staffed childcare, so a parent needs to stay within earshot, and there's a sign-in sheet for parents to fill out.
Take 5, Open Mic & Barter Table
Take 5 is your chance to share a project, passion, or something exciting from your land or community in a short 5–10 minute slot. Sign up at registration or on the sign-up sheet at the stage.
Open mic follows dinner Saturday night — bring an instrument, a poem, or a story. Mics and sound equipment will be available.
We'll also have a barter/free exchange area — bring produce, seeds, plants, cuttings, tools, clothing, crafts, books, and more. If you bring something and no one takes it, please plan to take it back home with you.
Getting Around Viroqua
Viroqua is a small city but a real hub for the region — you can find almost anything you need in town, and the Viroqua Food Co-op is a great stop for groceries.
Carpooling
Please try to carpool if you can! We've set up a carpool page if you're offering a ride or looking for one.
Quick Links
We can't wait to gather with you among the ridges and coulees of the Driftless tomorrow!
