This weeks 2018 session leader feature is on Johnathan Dodd. Johnathan resides with his family at New Earth Farm & Goods, a 5 acre polyculture farm that boasts diversified perenials, fungi, and multi-species grazing. He has taken root and planted in Papillion, NE for the past 6 years, alongside his spouse and three children.
The farm aims to establish a model of permanent and sustainable agriculture that works for the benefit of the land and people. Their hope is that our small farm will create a big impact and give vision for what is possible and profitable through sustainable design. New Earth Farm & Goods is about hospitality, community, and production. The farm is also host to Keipos, a non-profit founded by Johnathan of which he is the executive director.
Keipos offers 12-week internships and PDC courses, and also provides garden programming for at-risk youth in a local youth detention center as well as at a YMCA summer garden camp, along with other education opportunities for their community. Through his work with Keipos, Jonathan has established 5 garden sites on donated public and private land in Papillion, NE, growing literally tons of food for families in need and volunteers. Keipos started in response to rural needs in Nicaragua, where they have helped with the issues of water, sanitation, appropriate technologies, and community involvement. Jonathan has worked in this area of Nicaragua part-time for the past 8 years.
The Wisconsin Permaculture Convergence is proud to host Johnathan and his family as they make their way up from Nebraska to inspire and share with us their wisdom on building community abundance.
From Now until May 1st the convergence is offering Early Bird Ticket Pricing
