One Week Away: See You at the 2026 Wisconsin Permaculture Convergence
The countdown is on. The 9th Annual Wisconsin Permaculture Convergence lands at Earth Vibe in Viroqua, WI, August 21–23, 2026, and we're putting the finishing touches on a weekend built for skill-sharing and networking — right in the heart of the Driftless region.
What to expect this year
Friday opens with Convergence setup (10am–5pm) and registration (3–5pm), then rolls into a potluck dinner (6–8:30pm) and a community bonfire (8:30–10pm) to kick things off.
Saturday is our biggest workshop day, opening with a keynote on seed saving from Mike Bollinger from Seed Savers Exchange. From there, choose your own adventure across sessions including Introduction to Wet Felting and Needle Felting (Cheryl DeWelt), Finding Your Permaculture Dream Land (David Andrews), Beginning Horizontal and Natural Beekeeping Methods (Derek Nedveck), Beyond the Veggie Garden and Eating Year-Round from the Garden (Larisa Walk and Bob Dahse), Paradise Gardening (mIEKAL aND), Successful Environmental Activism in the Driftless Region: A Fifty-Year History (Jack Knight), Your Home as a Living System (Clay Ruby), and a hands-on Biochar Workshop (Tony Solidino).
Sunday brings Permaculture and Bioregionalism: Planning for Survivable Spaces (Karen Lemke), Permaculture Merit Badges (Mike Haasl), Permaculture Solutions for Reducing Risk From Natural and Man-Made Disasters (Bryce Ruddock), Experimental Farm Network (Dusty Hinz), an English Hedge Laying Demonstration and Design (MJ Oviatt), and Developing Customized Compost Tea (Erik Harris) — closing out the weekend with a community panel, What Permaculture May Offer in an Uncertain Future, led by Bryce Ruddock and our Permaculture Elders.
Still need a ticket?
There's still time to join us. Registration includes lunch, dinner, and onsite camping for the full weekend. It would be great to sign up by tomorrow so we can get an accurate count for meals! Can’t decide until last minute, tickets can be purchased with cash at the gate. Grab your ticket on Eventbrite before we see you at the gate.
This gathering runs on community
The Wisconsin Permaculture Convergence has always been a grassroots effort, and this year is no different — we'd love your help. If you can lend a hand with food prep or cleanup on site, we'll gladly put you to work (and thank you for it). If you or your organization would like to sponsor the Convergence — financially, with supplies, or through outreach — email us; sponsors get recognition on our website, at the event, and across our social channels.
We're also still looking for a volunteer to lead morning yoga Saturday and Sunday — if that's you, we'd love to hear from you.
Are you a musician and would like to share your tunes on Saturday evening? Shoot us an email and lets talk! email us
Getting ready to camp
Earth Vibe is a low-tech site, so plan accordingly:
Bring your own plates, bowls, cups, and utensils
A refillable water bottle and a comfortable chair for sessions
Weather-ready layers — sun and rain are both likely
Full camping gear; portable restrooms and water are on site
A dish to share for Friday's potluck, if you can
Earth-Vibe is an alcohol free space so save that homemade wine and cider for a future get together.
Check-in happens at the welcome tent Friday from 3–5pm or Saturday from 7:30–8:30am. Looking to carpool? Coordinate a ride here. And once you're on site, don't miss the barter exchange for trading seeds, produce, tools, crafts, and books with fellow attendees.
Founded in 2014, the Wisconsin Permaculture Convergence is a grassroots educational gathering that moves across the state each year to showcase Wisconsin's ecological diversity. This year, we're honored to land in the Driftless.
We'll see you in one week. Bring your curiosity, your camping gear, and something to share.
